The Saltash Music, Speech & Drama Festival is a competition Festival open to all age - groups and is held at the Saltash Wesley Methodist Church annually during the last week of January and the first week of February.

 
There are classes for poetry, prose, recital, bible reading, drama, singing and instrumental music - classical, popular folk, jazz - for individuals and groups.


The Festival was founded in 1990 (with Moura Lympany as Patron) and is now well established, attracting 1000 entries. It is affiliated to the National Federation of Music Festivals and its specialist adjudicators are highly experienced and offer friendly, constructive criticism and  encouragement.

A syllabus and entry details are sent each September to music and drama teachers in the area. 

Copies are also available from Saltash Library, Plymouth Music & Drama Library or by phoning the Festival’s General Secretary. 

The closing date for entries is in late November and a full program of classes is printed in January. 
Members of the public are encouraged to watch and enjoy morning , afternoon or evening sessions - a small entry charge is made. 

A Gala Concert feature high scorers from a selection of class and the presentation of awards ( cups trophies) is the culmination of Festival fortnight. This is always a popular event and a highlight among concerts in Saltash.
