- Callington was once a prosperous wool and mining town, it
has great character and hosts the popular Honey Fair in the Autumn. Horace Warpole was its
Member of Parliament from 1741 to 1754.
- The 15th Century Church of St. Mary has a fine alabaster
monument to Lord Willoughby de Broke (1452-1501). The Railway almost
reached Callington in the 19th Century, terminating at Kelly Bray about a mile
north of the town, the line with considerable
- support at the time survived the cut backs in the 20th century but was
truncated at Gunnislake.
