Braunton 5 miles north west of Barnstaple on the A361 provides good local services and access to sandy Braunton Burrows, the area provides
interesting local walks displaying evidence of a history of occupation over 1000 years. This is locally claimed to be the largest village in England. 
 
Braunton's church has many features of interest, including a superb roof, and carved bench-ends which are among the finest in England.
to the west lie extensive sand dunes known as Braunton Burrows, a noted nature reserve. 
 
At Baggy Point, a little to the north, soaring cliffs offer stupendous views over Croyde Bay to the south, and Morte Bay to the North.
