Dorchester is the county town of Dorset, to the south is Weymouth
with Wareham to the east.
There are so many beautiful places to visit in and around the
town. Dorchester is a pleasant place to stroll around. By the river there is a charming
walk.
There are also pleasant gardens close to playing fields.
Busy Dorchester with its Roman remains and old houses. Including the
17th-century Judge Jeffrey's Lodging is a natural base for exploring the southern downs. So. too, are Winterbourne Abbas. Winterbourne Steepleton and Martinstown. Littiebredy offers easy routes to Black Down and the Hardy Monument.
Walks on Dorset’s best-known prehistoric ridgeway path begin on the
B3143. about 2 miles north-east of Dorchester. Signposts point west along a chalky track over barrow-strewn heights to Charminster. and eastwards to an alder-hedged. poppy-lined bridle-way to Puddletown.
