Wimborne Minster and the Lower Stour Valley. The
bustling historic market town of Wimborne Minster lies in the
picturesque water meadows of the rivers Stour and Allen. Taking
its name from the gracious Minster Church of St.Cuthburga, founded
in AD705, the Towers of which dominate the town. There many
historic buildings and a wide range of quality shops, pubs and
restaurants. The town skirts the triple-banked
Iron Age defensive earthworks of Badbury Rings, centred in the
earthworks of east Dorset.
With five main roads radiating from it
Wimborne makes an ideal centre for touring. The town was
named as one of the top ten most desirable places to live in Great
Britain by Country Life Magazine.
The surrounding countryside provides many walks
and cycle trails.
