- Bampton is situated at the junction of the main road from
Exeter to Exmoor. The narrow valleys of the moors begin to broaden and the countryside breaks into gentler rounded
hills. This unpretentious little town is placed on the banks of the river Batherm, with pleasant streets of stone and
rendered cottages echoing its market town origins.
Bampton is famous for its Fair in late October when the herds of
Exmoor ponies are brought for sale.
