Bovey Tracey, one of the main gateway towns to
Dartmoor,
with a number of unique visitor attractions and a good mixture of
shops. The Devon Guild of Craftsmen is to be found in the 19th
century Riverside Mill, a prestigious centre for creative art; that
provides a base for many exciting exhibitions. The town plays host
to a successful farmers’ market on alternate Saturday mornings where
you can buy fresh produce.
Just off the A38 north of Newton Abbot
Bovey Tracey is conveniently located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and a number of walks
originate from the town. Close by the town is the mansion of Park owned by the National Trust
and houses the headquarters of the Dartmoor National Park Authority.
On the moor above the town is Haytor Rocks a popular destination for day trips from all over the
local area.
Sea fishing at
Seaton and Sidmouth. Boats can be hired from the beach at Sidmouth
and Beer. The best time for fishing at Seaton is between Sept and
Nov for bass. Sidmouth Bay is best in spring and summer.
Trout
fishing on stretches of the Rivers Exe, Otter and Sid. Coarse
fishing
on the Exeter Canal.
