- Dramatic Durdle Door
in Dorset is the most beautiful accessible place on this counties
coast. This natural arch of rock, has been formed by the sea. Durdle Door is an internationally famous landform and is one of the main features of the World Heritage Site.
Backed by an untarnished sweep of that down land unique to
Dorset, two wide bays beneath vertical chalk cliffs are divided by a
headland out of which the great door has been cut by the sea. A reef
and the headland enclose a sheltered bathing lagoon.
-
- Durdle Door is
approached by a large caravan park, but once through this soon
disappears from view.
