Puddletown is another of Dorset's
attractive villages. In the Puddletown Forest a nature trail walk has
been laid out.
The village was Hardy's "Weatherby" in Far
from the Madding Crowd. Officially till the early 1950's it name was
Piddletown. It has an excellent 15th century church, largely Jacobean furnished,
with box pews, canopied pulpit and gallery.
