Newton Abbot, it's location at the head of the Teign
estuary ensured that Newton Abbot would
always be at the centre of things shipping goods produced locally to the
world. granite, ball clay, wool and finished goods from local potteries.
with the advent of the railways Newton Abbot became a locomotive and
carriage repair works the increase in population was housed in neat
terraces evident today.
Since the decline in the railway network this housing
stock is now privately owned and many are hotels affording a good
stop to explore the local area. Day trips to include visits to
Dartmoor and local sea side resorts.

Teignmouth, Paignton, Torquay and Brixham (including shark
fishing). Trout and salmon fishing in the upper reaches of
the Rivers Teign and Dart.
