Clovelly Lentsherd, Tuesday 17 February
Lentsherd (pronounced 'Lanshard') is an old Clovelly custom, which takes place on Shrove Tuesday.
At dusk, *children set off down-a-long to the harbour, dragging clattering tin cans tied to string. The cans are then tied together and thrown into the sea (to be later retrieved). The aim is to rid Clovelly of all the bad things from the previous year by chasing bad spirits away and driving the devil into the sea before Lent. The Rev Shirley Henderson will give a blessing in the harbour. All participating *children will receive a free pancake from the Red Lion Hotel to decorate with toppings.
*Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
FREE ADMISSION FROM 4.30pm please consult 01237 431781

THE SWINGIN’ BUSQUITOS IN CONCERT
The Busquito’s are a mad, funny, great, swingin’, buskin’, band that will put a smile on everyone’s face. Originally busking on the streets of Amsterdam they've earned some nice accolades and are now touring the UK. The Busquitos play a very catchy mix of brilliantly played music, sung with an impressive Louis Armstrong-like hoarse voice, and dazzling, funny entertainment that will put a smile on everyone’s face! And if the time is right, they will mingle, wireless and play a serenade, organise a limbo or line-dance or get the audience to sing along to one of their catchy jazzy tunes. £15 (£13 conc.) 8pm. 2-course buffet 8pm £18p/p
